Wednesday Tune Fix – Talk To Dinah

Pete McMahan accompanied by Jack Deck on banjo – Slater, MO Jam Session 17 Oct. 1982

Talk to Dinah is this week’s Wednesday Tune Fix. This a hoe-down is the key of A from Pete McMahan of Harrisburg, MO. Great for square dancing – try playing it at 125 bpm or more. Below are a couple of performance examples. The first is the man hisseff – Pete McMahan – playing for Roselle Parker to jig dancing at Bethel, MO, in 1989.

Here’s another recorded in 2015 from the Child Grove regular Sunday dance and the Monday Club in Webster Groves, MO. With Geoff Seitz & Charlie Walden – fiddles, Dennis Buckhannon – guitar, Patt Plunkett – piano and Andy Gribble on bass. Lauren Peckman calling.

Go get the transcription on my “Dots” page. Just click the link, find the tune and download the PDF.

It just happens I taught this tune at a recent workshop out in San Francisco so I’ll direct you to a little playlist wherein you can hear the tune broken down and then play along slow with Patt & Possum.
