Wednesday Tune-Fix: Sleepy-Eye Joe

Another great tune from Lyman Enloe in the key of A. This tune was popular up in the Missouri Valley region as played by Bob Walters, Cyril Stinnett and Dwight Lamb. Lyman likely got the tune from his association with Cyril.

I’ve posted the notation on my “DOTS” page here. The little playlist below will get you going on this great hoe-down. The only tricky bit is in the A-part which requires a bit of string crossing. Give it go.

  1. I think (but don’t /know/) that this great tune was made up by Ellis Hall of Morgantown, WV. He recorded it on a Victor 78 in 1953. A wonderful old-time fiddler!
