Wednesday Tune Fix – Grey Eagle in C

There are a lot of Grey Eagles out there. The most famous one is in the key of A and has been a fiddle contest warhorse for decades. This one, however, is unique and comes from southpaw fiddle champion Cyril Stinnett of Oregon in Northwest Missouri. It’s classic Missouri Valley fiddling – plenty of notes, some playing “across the bar”, and an intricate melodic line with plenty of surprises on first hearing.

Here’s Cyril’s rendition.
